What If...

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace. ~Buddha~

Like the Butterfly Effect the simple idea of what if can alter or change a person’s direction in life...

Butterfly effect: "the phenomenon whereby a small change at one place in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere"

Philosophyforum.com

“The power of thoughts to change Reality is backed up by the science of physics. Do we say, “Ok, great, very interesting but who cares?” or do we scrutinize our thoughts to create a kinder more abundant existence? What if we made a collective effort to send more loving, kind and compassionate thoughts out into the ether? What if instead of gawking at some tragedy on the news we spent time sending out thoughts of love and compassion? At first it might be something we have to discipline our self to do, but if we stay with it, the habit will become second nature. “

Pete Latona The National Ledger

Sit quietly and think about your naked body, or your occupation, how do you feel, what are you creating for yourself? Does it take everything you have inside to make yourself get up every morning and go to work? Is looking in the mirror just not an option? We all have desires to make life better, we tell ourselves as soon as we get the promotion, lose the weight or win the lottery then everything will be perfect. The thing is how we feel right now this moment shows us what we are creating for ourselves in the long run. What if we made a conscious decision to pay attention to our thoughts, words and reactions throughout the day? It's amazing to really listen and hear what your saying to and about ourselves all day long...

What if we start shifting our perception of feeling good about ourselves in small increments, the gap between unhappiness and joy can appear as large as a canyon unless the shift takes place one little step at a time. As action oriented beings we think in order to achieve a goal we must take some sort of action to get to the finish line, but really a subtle shift in perception with each opportunity begins to train the mind to perceive from a positive level. We do

not start out in this world with a negative outlook on life, we inherit beliefs, and beliefs are altered and changed the longer we live. Beliefs generally are gathered without much conscious choice, it is never to late to purposely streamline our beliefs to suit our desires. Our determination to continue worn out beliefs takes away from the Universe. There is a responsibility of us as individuals to attend to happiness and well being, in order to affect the whole.

Determinism: "the philosophical proposition that every event, including human cognition and behavior, decision and action, is causally determined by an unbroken chain of prior occurrences"

A Pebble By James W. Foley

Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;

But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.

And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.

Drop a pebble in the water: in a minute you forget,

But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,

And those little waves a-flowing to a great big wave have grown;

You've disturbed a mighty river just by dropping in a stone.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone;

But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on.

They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go,

And there is no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute you forget;

But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,

And perhaps in some sad heart a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,

And disturbed a life was happy ere you dropped that unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone;

But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave

Till you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a minute you forget;

But there's gladness still a-swelling, and there's joy circling yet,

And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose sweet music can be heard

Over miles and miles of water just by dropping one kind word.
